Hurricanes and Tornadoes

This table compares hurricanes and tornadoes. It shows different features of both of these types of storms.

First of all, a hurricane’s speed is between 74 pmh minimum to 200 pmh maximum. Its classification scale is Saffir-Simpson C1-C5. It also takes 1 week average. Furthermore, the width of this storm is 300 miles. Moreover, hurricanes can be predicted 2-3 days for a wide area. In addition, they start from warm oceans.

On the other hand, the tornadoes’ speed is between 40 pmh minimum to maximum 300 pmh. Its classification scale is Fujita F0-F5. But it takes only few hours maximum. However, tornadoes have a width of 100-600 meters and sometimes to 1.5 km, while it can be predicted for only 20 minutes or less. But it starts usually over land unlike a hurricane.

In conclusion, hurricanes look more dangerous than tornadoes according to the table features. They are bigger, affect a larger area and last longer than tornadoes.
